Since April 2007, he is lecturer at Toyo University, Faculty of Business Administration. He was also project lecturer, Intellectual Asset-based Management Endowed Chair, University of Tokyo since April 2008 to September 2011. He contributed to the book “The Dynamics of Regional Innovation : The Policy Challenge in Europe and Japan” co-edited by Yveline Lecler, Tetsuo Yoshimoto and Takahiro Fujimoto with a chapter on “Licensing strategy of Japanese firms”(co-authored with Nobuo Takahashi), World Scientific Publishing (2011).

Objectif/Purpose of stay


The research program is twofold :
1) Koji NAKANO’s on-going research program is entitled : “Process of regional innovation in Europe“. In comparison with some cities in Japan, the aim is to carefully depict the process of launching a new business in Europe, especially in France focusing on activities of innovation in the region, conducting interviews with various companies, institutions and local government.
2) The aim of stay at IAO is also to prepare and start a new research program on smart communities in Japan and France/Europe. The case of Confluence in Lyon will serve as case study in comparison with experimentations done in Japan.
