Professor of Economics at Faculty of Social Innovation, SEIJO University, Japan

After graduating from Tokyo University in 1978 (B.A. in Liberal Arts), he joined the Bank of Japan (Central Bank in Japan), where he spent most of his career, occupying several positions including chief representatives in Paris Office from 1994 to 1997. He had been a member of the Committee on the Global Financial System at BIS from 2003 to 2006. In 2007 he became Professor at SEIJO University (Present position) while also associated at the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation, JAPAN from 2007 to 2011. He has published many of papers on venture finance in Japan, but also in France, and on financial markets. He contributed to the book “The Dynamics of Regional Innovation : The Policy Challenge in Europe and Japan” co-edited by Yveline Lecler, Tetsuo Yoshimoto and Takahiro Fujimoto with a chapter on “Venture capital and angels in Japan : Comparison with experiences in France”, World Scientific Publishing (2011).

His research program during his stay at IAO is entitled : “the Access to Credit for Small Companies after Crisis : Evidence and Perspective in France and Japan “. The main aim of this study is to analyze and evaluate the role of financial institutions and policy makers in France and Japan with regard to supply of risk money. It will focus on activities of financial institutions in the region, conducting interviews with financial institutions, company representatives from various industries, and local government.
